Allure 2200w Blow Dryer review #xtcanada

Disclaimer: I received this product free of charge to be able to conduct my review. However all of the options expressed are truthful and my own.

Since becoming a mom, one thing I am always trying to do is look for ways to save time, especially when it comes to getting ready. In the past I have always had to have my showers at night as I have super thick hair and I need a lot of time to dry/tame it. Well I am happy to say now I am able to shower in the morning and be ready in half the time it used to take me. All because of my New Allure 2200W Ionic Ceramic Hair Dryer from Xtava.

FullSizeRender (1)

My hair doesn’t just dry faster, it takes less time to straighten and tame as my new hair dryer makes it less puffy and my hair doesn’t feel as thick as it is getting fully dry. In the past I would end up only 3/4 of the way drying my hair because I didn’t have the time or didn’t want to stay up too late at night waiting for it to be 100% dry.

Do you want to cut time off of your morning routine? Want to use a salon grade blow dryer at a great price? You can get your very own on Amazon. It only costs $69.99, my hair dryer was at my door 2 days after ordering, it probably would have been faster but I ordered on a weekend.

Some of the great features:

  • 3 Heat Settings
  • 2 Speed Setting
  • Extra Long Cord
  • Light Weight
  • Drys Hair 80% Faster
  • Reduces Frizz
  • Concentrator Nozzle – directs the air exactly where you need it and helps control frizz

FullSizeRender (2)

So to recap, if you are looking to save time, protect your hair from over drying, reduce frizz and get a new blow dryer, I highly recommend you try the Allure 2200w.

Attention: Babies learning to crawl, you need these!

When your baby starts to meet their milestones, it is supposed to be a very exciting time; but since Little Miss is my last baby, I find her milestones are all coming up too quickly. Recently she has met her mobility milemarker, more specifically crawling. Unlike her brothers she decided to start right at 6 months. Granted she was not full out crawling. She has been army crawling for the past 4 months, none the less she became mobile and in turn needed her mommy that much less and reminded me she is growing up way too quickly. Don’t get me wrong, I am happy to see her thriving and gaining some independence, I just wish it took a little longer.
As much as she loved her new found freedom of sliding around all over the floor, she did begin to get quite frustrated when she couldn’t keep up with her brothers or was faced with obstacles such as carpet. In the middle of her mini mobility meltdown, I received a message from the owner of Go Little One Go. It’s like she knew what was going on at that exact moment. It was a no brainer of course I wanted to try out her adorable pants that make crawling at any stage easier for baby. Jessica and I exchanged messages and a few days later I had a pair of the newly released light grey Go Little One Go pants for Lil Miss to try out. Before we even get to how functional they are, can we just take a minute to admire the super soft bamboo material and ingenious silicone stars…

So I am sure by looking at the photo you can tell that their is silicone starts strategically placed on the knees of babies pants to help them crawl. Well they do just that. Only moments after I placed these pants on Lil Miss she was already attempting to get up on her knees and shortly after that she was flying around on them. These pants didn’t just alleviate her frustration they gave her the confidence she needed to try something new. Now a few weeks later, she is able to crawl around everywhere on her knees even without her “special” pants. The army crawl is long gone.

Disclaimer – yes I know her butts wet, no it is not pee. She sat in the dogs dish. Every time I tried to get a picture of these she split on them before I got a chance.

A little about the pants: *Go Little One Go bamboo pants were designed to:encourage your child’s crawling development.

*Their patent-pending Anti-Slip grips are strategically placed on the knees to provide supportive traction, keeping your Little One safer, happier and more confident as they achieve this important milestone.

*Their super soft pants are made from allergen free bamboo – giving peace of mind to all conscientious parents of tots with sensitive and delicate skin.

*Sizing is One-Size-Fits-All for the typical crawling stage.
They also come in a variety of colours!

Not only are these pants practical, adorable and super soft- they are machine washable too!
We loved the idea and reality of these pants so much that we brought them into the shop!

You can now purchase your Go Little One Go pants at Itsy Bitsy Necessities!

Tiny Teethers Review & Giveaway

title image

There comes a time in the first year of your babies life when your sweet, adorable cuddly squish becomes a whiny, snotty drooly monster (sorry I tried to sugar coat it but with two in the phase I just couldn’t). If you’ve been there, you know what I am talking about … TEETHING. How I wish we could just skip this stage, I almost thought we had with little Wy, but instead he got an entire mouth full all at once. Not fun, not fun at all.
Now it is little miss’ turn. She just turned 10 months and my precious baby girl, ain’t so precious anymore. Every time I pick her up I’m covered in snot or drool. She is cranky, up all hours of the night, chewing on everything and nothing seems to sooth her. Well almost nothing…

Introducing my hero, Tara from Tiny Teethers. She sent me one of her teething necklaces to try out and little miss started to look familiar to me again. She was much happier when she was chomping on her necklace.

The silicone grade beads are safe and are a great texture to soothe her sore gums. The beads are the perfect shape to fit in her little hands and mouth. I love the necklace as we can take it anywhere. Not only does it serve a purpose for her sore teeth, it gives me a huge break from having my hair pulled constantly. My boys they could care less about my hair, little miss thinks it’s the best thing going. She is constantly pulling at it, and I mean really pulling. I’m surprised I’m not bald. But since I’ve been wearing my necklace my head gets a well deserved break.

Not only are they purposeful they are very stylish too. Most people don’t even they are teething necklaces. Little Wy loved the one we got to test, it’s his new fave accessory!

They are so portable too, little miss chomped on hers all the way down to Florida (we drove) , used it to amuse herself and even sported it attached to our carrier at Disney!

Tara, doesn’t just make necklaces she make equally adorable pacifier clips. and one lucky reader will have the chance to win a necklace or clip of their choice! (Enter contest below)

Nutrience Subzero : Our Dogs Loved it #SubzeroDiffernce

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Nutrience,PetSmart, and the BlogPaws Professional Pet Blogger Network. I am being compensated for helping spread the word about the launch of Nutrience Subzero in PetSmart Canada but Itsy Bitsy Truth only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. Nutrience and PetSmart are not responsible for the content of this article.

A few weeks ago I let you know about a new High Quality Dog & High Quality Cat food on the market Nutrience Subzero ®. In case you missed it or need a reminder it is the one made in beautiful British Columbia, where it is produced in small batches for superior quality and control. Filled with wild-caught fish, meat & poultry which are also sourced in Canada and delivered fresh to the production facility. Sounds good right? It is also a healthier choice for your pet as it is grain-free and filled with multiple health benefits due to the freeze-dried raw inclusions. Basically it is filled will all the benefits and nutrients of a raw diet without the mess!

We went to PetSmart ® on November 28th for their Nutrience Subzero campaign launch. Unfortunately I caught the end of the demos at our PetSmart as they ran their campaign at a different time to accommodate their adoptions that day.  Even though I missed the main event the staff at PetSmart were very accommodating answering any questions I had, they explained to me the difference between the three different bags of food as well as the benefits and ingredients that make up the Nutriboost Freeze Dried Infusion.

Nutriboost freeze-dried inclusion contains

  • Green-Lipped Mussels – A natural anti-inflammatory to support joint health
  • Pacific Cod Liver – A rich source of omega-3 fatty acids for a healthy skin & coat
  • Pumpkin – A good source of dietary fiber to support digestion
  • Acadian Kelp – A variety of seaweed loaded with natural antioxidants to support a healthy immune system

(This is the display they had set up for the demos)

Oh and they even offered to carry the bags out for me!

We ended up bringing home two bags for Ebony and Darby to try, the Prairie Red (Beef Flavour) and the Fraser Valley (Chicken flavour). You can find out more/shop here

They were really excited for the treat, especially since they have had the same food for the majority of their lives (10  and 6 years).  Since Ebony has been known to be sensitive as she is part Staffordshire bull-terrier we have to be careful when introducing new foods, so we gradually added the Nutrience Subzero to their regular food and gave it to both dogs as treats instead of biscuits. They seemed to love it. They would sit eagerly waiting for their treat and would rush to their bowls at meal time. Our cat Marley even braved sticking her head in their dishes while they were eating, must have been the wild salmon!

We loved it too as they received the benefits of the raw diet in one single scoop!

If you think this is something your pet would enjoy head on down to your local PetSmart and pick up a bag or two.

Like most pet owners, my fur babies are just as special as my real babies. That being said I want only the best for them when it comes to their health. To ensure they are healthy and will be with us for a long time, we monitor what they eat. We make sure they don’t get into the “junk” aka the kids left overs and snacks. We shopped around to find the right food for them. Our staffy cross has the potential to get skin issues and stomach issues so we have to be careful what she eats.  We even researched the raw diet, and if what we are currently using didn’t work that would be the next step. However with 3 little ones (human) and two of them being 1 and under – time is of the essence, as well as freezer space. So we prefer the scoop and feed method – oh yah, and raw meat isn’t really my thing.

Want to Keep your Cat Happy? Check out Hill’s® Science Diet® Urinary & Hairball Control Cat Food #PetSmartLovesCats @PetSmart @Hillspet #ad

All my life we have had pets, mainly cats and dogs. Usually multiples of each and they have all been rescues. We have loved them all dearly and they have all brought something special into our lives, however when getting something pre loved there is sometimes issues. A few of the cats I had growing up always got constant urinary infections and crystals (Urinary infection is the #1 reason cat owners visit a veterinary clinic**). My first “baby” with my husband was our cat Tucker. He had quite the personality – if anything wasn’t going his way he would pee on furniture. We always had to make sure his litter was spotless, when we had our children if we forgot to empty is litter daily, he would go pee on the rocker in the nursery. He sure was high maintenance. We had to have 3 litter boxes for just 2 cats in order to keep his peeing under control. He didn’t like to do his business where our kitten would. So needless to say we kept up on emptying the litter on a regular basis and if we couldn’t figure out what had ticked him off – off to the vet we would go to have his urinary tract checked. FYI in his entire life 8 years he never had anything physically wrong. If he was still around I would definitely be buying him Hill’s® Science Diet® just for peace of mind.  A Key thing to remember is, a healthy bladder starts with the right balance of vital nutrients. Proper nutrition can help keep your kitty at their best, both in and out of the litter box. Also, keeping your cat healthy and happy is a great way to reduce the chances of having any issues which may lead to your pet being surrendered to a shelter, aka where we go to pick out our forever pets.

Hill’s® Science Diet® would also come in handy with Marley, our Mane Coon cross who my husband rescued from his construction yard at work. I had never had a long haired cat before and wasn’t sure what to expect. She does shed, but not the typical lose hair here or there, she sheds in clumps. I imagine it can’t be too pleasant for her to be swallowing those clumps when grooming. Hill’s® Science Diet® would be great for her to help cut down on hair balls. I knew when we got her that hairballs would most definitely be an issue, especially since Hairballs are the #1 condition in cats for pet parents* I,  like most pet parents would not want my animal to suffer, or have an issues because they are trying to be good kitties and keep themselves groomed. Hill’s Science Diet would work perfectly with my cats as it is the only food on the market currently that addresses both the issues I have experienced, urinary health and hairball control.

I also love that I can get this great food locally at any PetSmart or even purchase online. I popped by my local store to check out their selection, they had lots in stock. P.S. it is currently on sale!

Preparing your First for your Second

As a parent there comes a time when you and your partner make a big decision, the decision to expand your family. It is a very exciting time, you and our partner are overjoyed with the idea of having a new baby. You get caught up in all the excitement, you get your positive test – now it’s real, now you need to tell your first born they are going to have a baby brother or sister. Hopefully they take this well, they may be just as excited as you.

My son was very excited – but as mommy’s tummy got bigger and the arrival of his baby brother got nearer we started to notice he was becoming a little apprehensive when it came to the idea of his baby brother coming out soon.

To help him adjust to the new member of our family who was soon to arrive we came up with some of the ideas below (There are also a few we didn’t need to use but thought might help someone else)

Ways to help your first born prepare for a new baby:

  • Let them in on the news early on so they have time to adjust
  • Visit friends and family who have multiple children or a new baby
  • If the child needs to move rooms or adjust to sharing a room, do it sooner than later
    • Let the older child help you decorate both rooms
    • if sharing and he or she is not ready to give up the crib yet don’t force it – borrow/buy a second crib if need be to help make the transition smoother

  • Need help picking a name? Ask your toddler, give them names to choose between
  • Ask their opinion – disclaimer they may have some interesting suggestions. I.e.: My son first wanted to call the baby Mickey Mouse, then after meeting his soccer coach once it was Coach Brian and finally the name he was set on was Thor God of Thunder (and no we were not allowed to shorten it to just Thor)
  • Talk to your child about fun things a big brother/sister gets to do or things they can help out with, with baby.
  • Make a big deal about becoming a big brother or sister
  • Plan a few special outings, day trips or activities just the 3 of you before baby arrives.
  • Have friends/family lined up to spend some special time with your older child while you are in the hospital or just get home and are bonding with the new baby so they don’t feel left out.

** The key is to include them in the process as much as possible**

  • Allow the older child to pick out a welcome gift for the new baby as well as the coming home outfit
  • In turn get a little bag together for the older child from the new baby

Benefits of gift giving:

  • It prevents them from feeling left out when others are showering the new baby with gifts
  • Gives them something to play with/ keeps them occupied at the hospital
  • Creates a bond between baby and older sibling –every time they play with their new toy they think of their new baby.
  • Depending on your relationship with family and friends ask some to possibly do the same – bring a little something for the other child to prevent jealousy

I hope that some of these ideas come in handy and help you and yours welcome a new baby into your already “perfect” little family. Oh and a heads up, no matter how well adjusted the older sibling is at some point (usually around when baby hits 4-5 weeks) the older sibling will ask when the baby is “going back”, or something along that line. Don’t worry it is only temporary!

Good Luck!

12 Ways to Beat the Summer Heat

Temperatures have been on the rise lately and so has the number of people who have experienced heat stroke symptoms. With the higher than usually temperatures people are forgetting to take it easy and how to stay cool. I have compiled a list of tips and tricks to help you keep your cool this summer.
1) Visit your local pool or splash pad – try not to go in the hottest part of the day. It will be crowded and splash pads are usually out in the open.

water-652239__180 splash pad

 2) If you have one run your sprinkler – it kills two birds with one stone, you and your kids can cool off and your grass gets a good watering too!

3) Eat a cool treat (ice cream…yummmm). For the really little ones, purée their favourite fruit or veggie and make your own Popsicle!

 4) Find a park with lots of shade, or one by the water. It is always a few degrees cooler by a body of water.

 5) Have some fun, get out the water guns, balloons or even a good ole’ fashioned bucket and have a cool down war!

depth-charges-59114__180  water-fight-442257__180

 6) Add ice cubes to your kids bath or kiddie pool

 7) Try to avoid the heat of the day – have your fresh air break in the morning or early evening

8) Avoid dark clothing. (This is my biggest challenge)

 9) Make sure you drink lots of fluids, especially H2o

 10) Run cold water over your wrists, or place an ice pack on them. This will help cool down the rest of your body.

 11) Plan an outing to a public place with AC. I.e.: mall, library, museum even the grocery store

 12) Avoid electronics – it may be a small amount but they still give off some heat
*** Please remember your pets feel the heat too. Don’t take them away from the comfort of your air conditioned home to sit in your scorching hot car with you**
